He is a Doctoral candidate in sociology at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. formerly also visiting Research Fellow at the School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, UCL. Graduate of St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, he also studied at the National University of Wales and the University of Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. His current research focuses on politics of memory in post-transitional societies of Latin American and CEE countries. Within his doctoral project, he studies in comparative perspectives the memory regimes and conditions allowing for the emergence of historical revisionism in Poland and Chile. He endeavoured to work with and was commissioned to conduct research alongside numerous leading scholars in the field, including prof. Norman Davies, prof. Timothy Garton Ash, prof. Jan Kubik, and others. Mateusz Mazzini works closely with a number of third sector organisations dealing with issues of remembrance, such as the College of Eastern Europe in Wroclaw and the CADAL research centre in Buenos Aires. He has published extensively on politics of memory both in academic journals and popular outlets, including Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the New York Times, the Washington Post and New Eastern Europe.
