Curriculum Vitae
Lajos Szabó holds MA degrees from the University of Pannonia (Master in Engineering Management) and ENI Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei, Italy (Master in Energy and Environmental Economics). He received his Ph.D. in Engineering Management in 1997 and habilitation in Business and Economics in 2009. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Project Management Association. He has published numerous articles and presented his work at national and international conferences. His main field of interest includes intercultural, project and knowledge management. He has been the co-leader of the “Strategic Management research group” of the Faculty of Business and Economics for 23 years. His research group has successful cooperation with research groups in Germany, Denmark, Netherland, USA and Romania. He was visiting researcher at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany from 1999 to 2000 and at Nazareth College, Rochester, USA in 2006. He served as the Dean (2012-2015), Vice Dean (2007-2012) and Head of the Department of Management (2006-2015) at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pannonia.
Research program
Sustainable Management
The research aims to identify how sustainability appears in the management of organizations. It focuses on the strategic and the operational level. Planning, organization, execution, controlling and monitoring systems as well as decision making processes are analyzed in order to reveal how the business, the environmental and the social perspectives of sustainability are taken into consideration in strategy development, in project management and in functional management practices. The first main project aims to carry out an empirical survey using the Project Sustainability Assessment Instrument developed within the New Central Europe II. Project. The main focus is on the following key areas:
Sustainability: the aim is to reveal how projects contribute to the local and regional business and social development as well as to the environmental protection.
Innovation: the aim is to discover the innovation potential of the projects and to analyze, how different forms of innovation contribute to the local and regional business and social development as well as to the environmental protection.
Creativity: the aim is to explore how sustainability and innovation are supported by the degree, extent and intensity of individual, organizational and social creativity.
The project cooperates with researchers and research institutes from Central European countries.
