Ágnes Kovács

She obtained her PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies at the Doctoral School of Literary Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Eötvös Loránd University, specializing in Hungarian literary history; her doctoral research focused on the literary period of Nyugat and its era. She previously earned degrees as a teacher of Hungarian language and literature at Eötvös Loránd University, as well as teaching qualifications in Hungarian and Italian at the Dániel Berzsenyi Teacher Training College. She began her career in the media, working as a television editor, presenter, and reporter for several channels, and later spent many years at Szombathely Television as an editor-presenter and subsequently as editor-in-chief. At the predecessor of ELTE Savaria University Centre, the University of West Hungary Savaria University Centre, she served as press spokesperson responsible for the institution’s communications, and later taught courses in literary studies and communication as an assistant professor at the Institute of Aesthetics, Linguistics and Literary Studies. She has also worked in the press as an editor and journalist for daily newspapers and magazines, and as a communications professional for cultural institutions. Between 2019 and 2021, she served as creative director of Szombathely Television, overseeing the channel’s content and visual identity. She was a researcher, later head of communications, at the Institute of Advanced Studies Kőszeg, and currently serves as Head of Department of the iASK Hankiss Archive, where she manages scientific and cultural projects. She regularly publishes and presents at national and international conferences. Her studies were published in a volume titled Textual Investigations (Szövegnyomozások) by Savaria University Press, and her first novel, Garden of Fallen Petals (Zárvatermők kertje), was published by Kalligram. She has edited several scholarly volumes; the most recent of these, focusing on the oeuvre of Agota Kristof, was published jointly by Gondolat Publishing and iASK.
