The Role of Knowledge Centres in the R&D Ecosystem and the Network Model of Knowledge Sharing

This working paper was prepared by the iASK Kraft group in 2024. The background of the research was that we plan to apply for a European cooperation project in the Creative Europe 2021-2027 application cycle.

We intend to implement a medium-sized cooperation project with participants from Central and Southern Europe from the resources available in the Culture branch of the European Union program. The focus of the planned project is on the “redevelopment” of the regions, to which the knowledge centers located in the region can contribute with effective support, by creating a so-called research and development and knowledge sharing ecosystem

Summary of the working paper

The Knowledge Centres in the R&D Ecosystem can play significant role in the developing strategies for regions to become more resilient to crises, environmental issues, and social challenges. As an interdisciplinary networks, they address the complexity of socio-economic and ecological problems and devise multifaceted solutions. This working paper deals with knowledge ecosystems and networks that integrate cutting-edge insights and methodologies across disciplines, emphasizing their role in regional development, innovation, and social cohesion. By studying the regional embedding of innovation ecosystems, the paper examines how knowledge centers contribute to regional development locally through innovation, human resource development, and collaborative platforms. Strengthening such networks is essential for building regional resilience, and governmental support is seen as crucial to harnessing this potential.
