Kees de Bot got his PhD from the university of Nijmegen in the Netherlands in 1982. He was vice-dean of education at the Faculties of Arts in Nijmegen and Groningen and director of the Graduate School for Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience. He supervised 43 PhDs and has published in the main international journals in the field of Applied Linguistics and multilingualism. His research interests cover psycholinguistic aspects of multilingualism, language attrition and maintenance, language and aging, circadian rhythm and language processing and the application of complex dynamic systems theory in language development.
