Dion van den Berg is head of the Europe team at PAX for Peace. He is chairperson of the Social Council of Tilburg local government, and board member of a fund to promote quality of local media. He was involved in the promotion of municipal peace policy in a variety of countries, including Turkey, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, DRC (Congo), South Sudan, Ukraine, Syria and Iraq. Dion van den Berg was involved in the ‘detente from below’ campaign, that aimed at overcoming the Cold War divide in Europe by means of support for and cooperation with dissidents and independent groups in Warsaw Pact countries. Ever since 1995, he supports the Campaign for Truth and Justice of the survivors of the genocide of Srebrenica. Within that framework, PAX lobbies the Dutch government to acknowledge the Dutch co-responsibility for the Srebrenica genocide.
