Landscapes change, and we change in them… – presentation by Tamás Fejérdy at the Veszprém Heritage Tourism Conference

At the conference “New opportunities in historic landscapes, Archaeological heritage tourism and intelligent landscape use in the 21st century”, organized jointly by the Hungarian National Museum, the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture and the Iron Age Danube Route Association, the conference was held in Budapest. Our colleague Dr. Tamás Fejérdy (Honorary President of the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS, a researcher at the Institute of Advanced Studies Kőszeg (iASK), and Professor Emeritus at the University of Pannonia) gave a presentation on “Landscape change – changing landscapes: opportunities and constraints”.

In his presentation, the researcher highlighted the relationship and interaction between landscape and people (“Landscapes change and we change in them…we change and landscapes change because of us”), and the need to know and respect the carrying capacity of the landscape. To this end, it is essential to constantly monitor the impact on the landscape and to implement interventions based on the results, whether it is a historic or a natural landscape.

The presentation of Tamás Fejérdy will be available HERE in Hungarian!
