Géza Cséby is a writer, poet, literary translator and literary historian. He graduated from the Budapest College of Finance and Accounting and the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Humanities. He defended his PhD thesis on “The place of Count György Festetics in the history of Hungarian culture” at the University of Szeged.
For thirty years he was the director of the Goldmark Károly Cultural Centre and Balaton Theatre in Keszthely. He has translated the poems of more than two hundred Polish poets into Hungarian and published more than three hundred scientific treatises, essays and publicist articles. His main research interests include the era of Count György Festetics, the Helikon Celebrations organized by the Count, and the history of Hungarian-Polish relations, especially during World War II. He is one of the founders of the Csokonai Vitéz Mihály Csokonai Literary and Art Society and founder of the Hévíz journal. He is a member of the editorial board of the Pannon Tükör journal. A regular participant in international literary meetings in Poland.
He is a member of the Hungarian Writers’ Association, the Hungarian Literary History Society, the Berzsenyi Dániel Literary and Art Society, the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Literary Society, among others.
He has played a prominent role in fostering Hungarian-Polish relations. Since 2019 he has been Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland.
