Nikola Ivanovski is a documentary director based in London. A graduate of the National film and Television School he also holds an MA from International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS – University of London and a BA in Humanities and Social Sciences with a minor in journalism from the Anglo-American University in Prague. Before becoming a filmmaker, he was a journalist at the BBC, a picture editor at Demotix, an
award-winning photojournalist news agency and a lecturer in documentary photography as well as international economics and finance at the Anglo-American University in Prague. He also worked in the international development sector for organisations such as Save the Children, Comic Relief, CAFOD and UNICEF. He is frequently deployed on filmmaking assignments for UNHCR around the world and has lived in Kenya and India. Most recently he was directing the new (18th) season of Overland, a travel adventure documentary series that saw his travel from Italy to Afghanistan and back over land. It it currently broadcast on Rai 1 in Italy. His documentary “Salvation” premiered in June at the Korean Refugee Film Festival (KOREFF 2017) in Seoul.
