Horváth, István, Head of the Romanian Institute for Research on Minorities, professor at Babeș-Bolyai University

István Horváth is a professor at the Hungarian Language Sociology and Social Work Department of the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj/Kolozsvár (Head of the Romanian Institute for Research on Minorities).

His main fields of interest include sociology of race and ethnic relations, multilingualism and social cohesion, ethnic migration.

Since 2000 he has participated in various projects on emigration with a special focus on ethnic migration (e.g. Ethnic Migration and the Representation of Ethnic Interests –  Humboldt-Universität, Berlin (2001-2003; Social Impact of Emigration and Rural-Urban Migration in Central and Eastern Europe – European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities (2011-2012); Managing Migration and its Effects in SEE – Transnational Actions Towards Evidence Based Strategies. Financed by the EU South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Program (2012-2014). Moreover, he has published several articles on migration in books and journals.
