Curriculum Vitae
Tara Hopkins is from the USA, where she studied anthropology and language teaching; she has been living in Turkey since 1989. Since 1999, she has been involved with a wide spectrum of supporting and strengthening Civil Society: she was the first Ashoka Country Rep for Turkey; she established the first program that was required for all majors for Civic Participation at the university level; she established the first social enterprise in Turkey to focus on both environmental issues and women’s empowerment. Since October 2016, she has been working full-time with displaced people from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, both on the Syrian border and in Istanbul. She has conducted workshops and seminars on peace education, human rights, civic engagement and social enterprise in many countries to a wide range of audiences.
