János Asbóth is a physicist interested in what new phenomena arise when topology meets quantum physics, and how this can be used to build better quantum computers. He obtained his MSc in physics in Budapest, his PhD in Innsbruck (cold atomic gases/quantum optics), and after a postdoc in Leiden (mesoscopic physics) he moved back to Budapest, where he is currently a senior research fellow at the Department of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Wigner Research Centre for Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
