Aneliya Paneva is a visiting research fellow at iASK with a focus on the environment and sustainability in Southeastern Europe. More specifically, she explores the relevance and application of the concepts of ‘environmental policy integration’ (EPI) and ‘climate policy integration’ (CPI) in the Balkan countries. Aneliya is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Ecological Economics, University of Oldenburg, Germany. Her main area of investigation is the governance and capacity-building challenges in the transitioning towards sustainable development in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. She holds 2 Master degrees in Climate Change and Water Management from the Sofia University and Economics and International Business from the New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria. Aneliya is a member of a number of European and international networks, including the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) Fellowship Programme with CEE Countries, European Society for Ecological Economics, SDGs Taskforce of the Earth System Governance Project and the River Cities Network. Research interests: reflexive governance, social learning, SDGs implementation, measuring progress towards the SDGs, climate adaptation, capacity-building for sustainable development.
