Abstract
Statistical process control and control charts are essential tools for monitoring and controlling production processes across various sectors, including healthcare, finance, software development, and education. Despite the prevalence of operation processes (OPs) in all economic fields, there is no dedicated control chart to monitor them. This paper presents a new OP control chart and its associated fitting procedure. The proposed method is illustrated using a real-life OP. The performance of the control chart is also investigated under nonnormality, and several distribution-free chart statistics are compared to identify the most effective design. Practical recommendations are provided to guide decision makers in selecting appropriate control charts for OPs.
