A possible complex approach to regional strategic thinking

A brand new article was released in Comitatus, written by Ákos Jakobi, Mariann Szabó, Ferenc Miszlivetz and Szabolcs Morvay. The article’s full title is A possible complex approach to regional strategic thinking: recent experiences of the “Creative City Sustainable Regions” concept.

Abstract

Due to external shocks and stresses affecting regions, strengthening of territorial strategic thinking becomes more important. In our paper, we present the strategic complexity of the “Creative City Sustainable Regions” concept, the latest experiences of the practical feasibility of complex approaches, and how Professor Rechnitzer’s intellectual heritage met this complex program at many points. In support of this, we present the volume of research outcomes entitled “Insula Magna: Land, Water and Sound in Szigetköz” and the interdisciplinary research behind it, in which Professor Rechnitzer played a leading role. From the very beginning, Professor Rechnitzer’s work at the Institute provided the basis for formulating the development policy concept and programs based on endogenous resources and promoting the exploitation of local, old-rooted endowment elements, but at the same time mutual understanding clearly culminated in the joint work of Szigetköz.
