Title of the presentation: A systems ecology view on our future

Abstract: We face major challenges in the future, including epidemics, climate change and ecological instability. In order to increase our adaptability, we need to (1) think in terms of socio-ecological systems, (2) learn survival strategies from nature and (3) improve our systems perspective on the biosphere. These can support fast and deep cultural changes. In the lecture, I will give several examples and discuss the possibilities as well as the role of science and multidisciplinary thinking.
