iASK at the Bonn AI & Climate Expert Meeting

Long-standing partner of iASK, United Nations University, Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), organized an expert meeting on artificial intelligence and climate change on the 1st and 2nd of July 2024 at the Wissenschaftszentrum in Bonn, Germany. Izabella Agárdi (iASK and University of Pannonia) and Ivana Stepanovic (iASK), participated in the event, sharing their insights on the possibilities for using AI to tackle climate change on a global level.

This event was initiated after the UN Secretary-General declared a race to develop Artificial Intelligence for the greater good, which “supercharges” climate action and drives the world towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions at the expert meeting provided five key insights into AI as a double-edged sword in climate action, illuminating how AI can enhance climate action but with robust ethical regulation and greener tech solutions to prevent risks and inequalities.
