It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dr. Zoltán Gaál, Professor Emeritus, at the age of 75, on 30 January 2022.
During his professional career spanning almost five decades, he always considered the development of Hungarian higher education, the University of Pannonia, the staff and students of the institution his most important task.

He was a true builder. As Dean and Rector, he created a lasting legacy that laid the foundations for the successful operation of the University of Pannonia for a long time to come.

From 2016, he was a senior researcher at iASK and later head of the KRAFT Centre. He developed the conditions for the unbiased calculation of the so-called KRAFT index.
From 2019 to 2021 he was Deputy Director General of iASK.

He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Herendi Porcelain Manufactory and as President of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.
Since 2021, he has been a trustee of the Foundation for the University of Pannonia.
