Pavel Palazhchenko, graduated from Maurice Thorez Foreign Languages Institute, Moscow, in 1972 and from the United Nations Language Training Course at the same Institute in 1973. Since 1992 he has been an Advisor, International and Media Relations, to the President of the International Foundation for Socioeconomic and Political Studies (Gorbachev Foundation). Previously, he worked as consultant, Executive Office of the President of the USSR. Starting in 1980, Palazhchenko participated in various arms control negotiations, including MBFR, INF, and START. He took part as interpreter and adviser to Mikhail Gorbachev and Eduard Shevardnadze in all US-Soviet summits held during the period 1985-1991.
