Zsolt Tibor Kosztyán and Ildikó Neumanné Virág, research fellows of iASK contributed to the article: Examining the Mobility of Higher Education Applicants by Economic Network Models.

The article was released in Statisztikai Szemle, 2019, No. 11, p. 1007-1049.

Abstract:

Several studies have examined the factors of mobility of higher education applicants and recent graduates. These studies were mainly based on questionnaire surveys. However, in Hungary, there is an excellent source of career tracks maintained by the governmental Education Office, which allows one to follow students from the place of birth through the choice of higher education institution to the workplace. By combining gravity and network models, the student mobility network is modelled in this study.

Keywords: mobility, application preferences of students, gravity model.
